Allied Health Programs
"My experience with Continuing & Professional
Education's Allied Health
program was both adventurous and spiritual.
Not only that I successfully completed two programs
(Medical Billing
and Medical Coding)
in less than 16 months, but I was also able
to conquer two very challenging national certification
examinations - CMRS (Certified Medical Reimbursement
Specialist) and the AAPC (American Academy of
Professional Coders).
When I was searching for a long-term stable
career, I was fortunate to find the OCC certificate
requirements in the bulletin. This provided
me with an easy to follow roadmap to further
my education, and build a foundation to market
my credentials and skills for employers. My
most valuable and memorable recollections were
the encouragement and thoughtfulness from two
of the faculty members in the program, Sally
Tumminelli and Michelle Rimmer. During the difficult
times when I wanted to quit, they would rescue
me from disappointment and encourage me to carry
through to the end. This experience was special
to me, and is one that would be hard to find
had I been in a bigger college environment.

gave to their peers that led to my securing
employment in the field and furthering my career."
