Alpha Alpha Alpha National Honor Society

Alpha Alpha Alpha: Gamma PSI chapter

Ocean County College is proud to announce the formation of Alpha Alpha Alpha, an honor society recognizing the achievements of first-generation students. Our chapter Gamma Psi is only the second New Jersey county college chapter.

Requirements:

  • 30 credits earned
  • 3.2 or higher GPA
  • Be a first generation college student

Alpha Beta Gamma National Honor Society

Alpha Beta Gamma (ABG) Business Studies

Alpha Beta Gamma is a national business honor society established in 1970 to recognize and encourage scholarship among college students in business curricula.

Requirements:

  • 15 OCC Credits earned
  • 3.0 GPA
  • 3.0 in a Business Course

Chi Alpha Epsilon National Honor Society

Chi Alpha Epsilon (Beta Chi) EOF Honor Society

The Beta Chi Chapter of this national honor society seeks to promote continued high academic standards, foster increased communication among its members, and honor academic excellence for those students admitted to Ocean County College via developmental programs.

Requirements:

  • 3.0 GPA for two consecutive full-time semesters or 3-4 part-time semesters
  • Participants of a higher education opportunity program

Delta Alpha Pi Honor Society

An academic honor society to recognize high-achieving students with disabilities who are attending colleges as undergraduate or graduate students.

Requirements:

  • 24 OCC credit hours
  • 3.1 GPA
  • Currently enrolled students registered with Disability Services

National Society of Leadership and Success

Lambda Alpha Epsilon

The American Criminal Justice Association Lambda Alpha Epsilon is a national organization that is made up of students and professionals in Criminal Justice.  The purpose is to further professionalism in all areas of criminal justice.

Requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Enrolled in a program of study in the criminal justice field at OCC

National Society of Leadership and Success

National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS)

The National Society of Leadership and Success is an organization that provides a life-changing leadership program that helps students achieve personal growth, career success, and empowers them to have a positive impact in their communities. Students are selected for our online chapter based on either academic standing or leadership potential.  The NSLS provides a step-by-step program for members to build their leadership skills through self-guided participation online.

Requirements:

  • 6 credit hours at OCC
  • GPA of 2.7

Phi Theta Kappa - PTK - National Honor Society

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK)

Phi Theta Kappa is the national honor society of two year colleges represented at Ocean County College by the Tau Iota Chapter. The purpose of this organization is to recognize and encourage scholarship among junior college students. Any student who has earned at least 15 credit hours at Ocean County College (excluding transfer or remedial credits) and has a cumulative grade point average of 3.60 is eligible for membership and will be contacted by the organization.

Requirements:

  • 15 credit hours at OCC
  • GPA of 3.6

Beta Alpha Psi

Psi Beta (Psychology)

The National Honor Society in Psychology for community and junior colleges. The purpose of this PSI Beta is to stimulate, encourage, and recognize scholarship and interest in psychology.

Requirements:

  • 12 credit hours at OCC
  • 3.25 GPA
  • B or Higher in psychology courses

SALUTE Veterans National Honor Society

SALUTE (Veteran Honor Society)

SALUTE is the only national honor society in the nation recognizing the scholastic achievements of this generation’s greatest veterans.

Requirements:

  • Attend a 2 or 4 year institution
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Military Active Duty or Honorably Discharged Veterans

Sigma Chi Eta – BETA Chapter

To recognize, foster, and reward outstanding scholastic achievement and stimulate interest in the field of communication.

Requirements:

  • Completed a minimum of 9 semester credit hours
  • 3.0 GPA overall
  • 3.25 GPA for all communication courses
  • Complete 2 courses or 6 semester credit hours in communication courses

Sigma Kappa Delta English Honor Society

Sigma Kappa Delta (SKD) English Studies

Sigma Kappa Delta (SKD) is the English honor society for two-year colleges. The society strives to confer distinction in high achievement in English language literature in undergraduate studies; provide, through its local chapters, cultural stimulation on college campuses and promote interest in literature and the English language in surrounding communities; foster all aspects of the discipline of English, including literature, language and writing; promote exemplary character and good fellowship among its members; exhibit high standards of academic excellence; and serve society by fostering literacy.

Requirements:

  • 12 OCC credits completed
  • 3.0 GPA
  • B or higher in any English class

Social Work Honor Society

Students who join the OCC Social Work Honor Society have the option to become affiliated with the National Association of Social Workers – New Jersey chapter (NASW-NJ).  For more information, please contact the advisor.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled at OCC
  • 3.2 GPA
  • Declared Social Work as their AS degree program
