Student-run clubs at Ocean County College are once again banding together to present Clubs for a Cause, an evening of food and fun intended to address hunger and homelessness in Ocean County and help eliminate the stigma surrounding these issues. This powerful, collaborative event will take place on Thursday, April 18 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Larson Student Center on OCC’s main campus in Toms River. The event is open to the public and the community is invited to attend.
The minimum donation of $5 for students and $10 for adults will support a mystery bag fundraiser to benefit the Helping Hands Food Pantry. The evening will also feature a live DJ, games, a scavenger hunt, and of course, plenty of food!
Volunteers from at least 27 student clubs from OCC and Kean Ocean are participating in the event and bringing food. JBJ Soul Kitchen is also providing a dish, while representatives from local organizations and support services including Family Promise, Just Believe, Stop and Shop, Ocean County Social Services, Affordable Housing Alliance, Destiny Food Pantry and Fulfil Food Bank will be present to provide information on how to get involved.
