Public Services A.S.

The Associate in Science (A.S.) degree program allows students to successfully complete a program of study in one of several areas of public service including Addictions Counseling, Child Care, Development Disability Assistant, Fire Science, Homeland Security, Human Services, Municipal Administration and Public Administration/Government.  Program graduates may transfer to a four year school and/or directly enter the workforce.

Additional Requirements:

  • Lab Science Gen. Ed. Requirement (4 credits): Courses satisfying this requirement must be taken from the list of Approved General Education Lab Science courses (course type: GSCL).
  • Humanities Gen Ed (3 credits): Courses satisfying this requirement must be taken from the list of Approved General Education Humanities Courses (course type: GHUM).
  • Mathematics Gen Ed (3 credits): Courses satisfying this requirement must be taken from the list of Approved General Education Mathematics courses (course type: GMAT).
  • Additional General Education Requirement (3 credits): Courses satisfying this requirement must be taken from the list of Approved General Education courses for communication (GCOM), mathematics (GMAT), lab science (GSCL), technological competency or information literacy (GTEC), social science (GSOC), humanities (GHUM), history (GHIS) or diversity (GDIV).
  • Social Science Gen Ed (3 credits); Courses satisfying this requirement must be taken from the list of Approved General Education Social Science courses (course type: GSOC).
  • Electives (to meet the required 64 credits): 3 credits Developmental courses may not be used to satisfy this requirement.

Public Service Electives (27 credits):

Students may choose from the extensive range of courses below (without being restricted to one category) based on personal interest and/or transfer needs.
