Types of Financial Aid

Completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first step for consideration for the following types of financial aid at Ocean County College.

Learn about the FAFSA process with Enrollment Services’ FAFSA Presentation (PPTX).

General Tips:

  • Accuracy is Key: Double-check all information entered, especially Social Security Numbers and tax return data. Ensure it matches official documents exactly.
  • Use the Help Features: The FAFSA website offers built-in help resources like question mark icons next to fields and help articles. Utilize them for clarification.
  • Save Your Progress: The FAFSA allows you to save and return later. This is helpful for breaking down the process and avoiding losing progress.
  • Clear Browser Cache: Outdated data in your browser can sometimes cause issues. Try clearing your cache and cookies before starting the FAFSA.

Technical Issues:

  • FSA ID Problems: If you’re having trouble creating or using your FSA ID, check the Federal Student Aid website for troubleshooting tips related to account creation and login issues.
  • IRS Data Transfer Issues: Sometimes, transferring data directly from the IRS might fail. This could be due to mismatches between your FAFSA information and your tax return. In such cases, you might need to enter the information manually.
  • Dependent Student Issues: If you’re a dependent student, ensure you gather all your parent’s financial information beforehand to avoid delays.
  • Website Glitches: If you encounter website errors or glitches, try logging in at a different time or using a different browser. Consider contacting the Federal Student Aid Information Center (FSAIC) for assistance (1-800-433-3243).

By following these tips and utilizing available resources, you can navigate the FAFSA process more smoothly.
