Ocean County College offers reasonable accommodations for qualified students with disabilities on an individualized basis. Using the interactive process, a collaborative process between Disability Services staff, the student, and faculty we consider a wide variety of factors when determining reasonable accommodations, including the:
- Nature of the disability and its impact on learning
- Documentation provided
- Other relevant facts
Students who are approved for accommodations should connect with Disability Services to generate a notification of accommodations letter, which is sent via email to instructors.
Students may be eligible for a variety of accommodations. These accommodations may include, but are not limited to:
- Extended testing time
- Alternate format textbooks
- Reduced distraction testing environment
- Note taking support
- Sign language interpreters
- CART or captioning
- Use of adaptive and assistive technologies
While the process for requesting reasonable accommodations may be started at any time, reasonable accommodations may not be implemented retroactively.
For questions regarding reasonable accommodations, please email: accommodations@ocean.edu
